Basic First Aid (Partial Online)

This basic first aid course is designed for people caring for children as well as people working in an industry with a significant amount of risk. A great deal of emphasis is placed on understanding the nature of and therefore preventing risks and hazards.

Participants take the instructional portion of the class on-line at their own pace.  The participants then meet in-person with the instructor to review the material as needed and perform a skills demonstration.  


Course Content

This First Aid course is designed to teach participants to prevent, recognize, and treat the following illnesses and injuries:

  • Soft tissue injuries such as cuts, abrasions, and impaled objects
  • Shock
  • Head trauma
  • Sprains
  • Fractures
  • Burns
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Poisoning
  • Bites and stings
  • Heat exhaustion
  • Hypothermia
  • Frostbite
  • Infections

Optional Modules

Natural Medicine
In addition to the conventional protocols for treating the aforementioned issues, an emphasis will be placed on alternative modalities for treatment including homoeopathic remedies and herbal preparations. Participants will be guided in assembling their own first aid kits to include homoeopathic and herbal preparations.
